Ceiling fans spin parallel to the floor/ceiling.
Table fans spin perpendicular to the floor/ceiling.

They circulate the air differently.

Besides the obvious differences already mentioned, there are three more. First, the ceiling fan is designed to produce a continuous airflow pattern with minimum energy, so it is very efficient. Second, it counteracts convection which brings hot air to the top of the room. In cold weather, less heat is required to keep the room comfortable for people. In hot weather, hot air is brought down from the ceiling to where a breeze through open doors and windows can carry it out of the room. Third, since it is out of reach, it doesn't need a protective cage.

A ceiling fan is usually large with large blades uncovered on the celing and is not portable but table fans are short,usually covered with a metallic cage type thing, have short blades and are portable .They can be kept anywhere especially on tables.

the major difference is table fan standing on a table, but celing fan ankered on celing.

If you are referring to big ceiling fan with long fan blades the major difference is construction of induction motor which rotate the fan blades.In table fan, motor armature is inside the stator coil while ceiling fan motor amature is outside the stator coil so as to accomodate the fixing of big fan blades.

Table fan should be placed on the table whereas the Ceiling fan should be on the ceiling. Smart Rite?
