Hey pinklove,
It is Fiction!
Some is based on real organizations, places and events. The premise that Jesus had kids and was married - I think is possible, but not documented anywhere, that I know of. The whole Sex ritual thing and being closer to GOD, that was an interesting thought, that moment of copulation should be when you see god - no wonder the Guy rolls over after sex.
Anyway, a fun story.

From his website
HOW MUCH OF THIS NOVEL IS TRUE?
The Da Vinci Code is a novel and therefore a work of fiction. While the book's characters and their actions are obviously not real, the artwork, architecture, documents, and secret rituals depicted in this novel all exist (for example, Leonardo Da Vinci's paintings, the Gnostic Gospels, Hieros Gamos, etc.). These real elements are interpreted and debated by fictional characters. While it is my belief that some of the theories discussed by these characters may have merit, each individual reader must explore these characters' viewpoints and come to his or her own interpretations. My hope in writing this novel was that the story would serve as a catalyst and a springboard for people to discuss the important topics of faith, religion, and history.
BUT DOESN'T THE NOVEL'S "FACT" PAGE CLAIM THAT EVERY SINGLE WORD IN THIS NOVEL IS HISTORICAL FACT?
If you read the "FACT" page, you will see it clearly states that the documents, rituals, organization, artwork, and architecture in the novel all exist. The "FACT" page makes no statement whatsoever about any of the ancient theories discussed by fictional characters. Interpreting those ideas is left to the reader.

It is a very well-done blend of fiction and fact. It may take some time separating the factual, historically accurate parts of the novel from the fictional parts of it, but it should not be that hard if you do your research right. If you want to know, there are many books out there that deal with winnowing the fact from fiction in "The Da Vinci Code;" purchasing one of them should help you answer any questions you may have.

You are reading this book right now? If that were true, you would see in the foreward these words: "This is a work of fiction.....". Do you have any idea what the word 'fiction' means. If not I suggest you go outside and jump in front of a speeding vehicle, it is probably a figment of your imagination anyway.

Neither truth nor crap. It's called Fiction. That's why you picked it up in the fiction section of the bookstore/library, and not in the History section.
Fiction, people.

Its a fictional story. There is no real Sophie Neveu. Brown believes the sacred feminine corruption scandal of the Catholic church though. He seems to believe the same on this subject as his writer friend, Margaret Starbird.

of course it's fiction, but dan brown used a lot of detailed places to make it look more real, but the book is just like the other 3: Angels&Demons, Digital Fortress and the Conspiracy they all start with a murder and the author just changed some details and places.
