I practiced for about 3hrs. everyday for 10yrs.
I played at the highest level the area I lived in allowed.
I won a lot.
I did not consider myself an athlete. (I did cross country when I thought that).
I did not consider myself a sportsman. (I played squash when I thought that).
I considered myself a gamesman, and still do when I clean someone out at Darts, Pool or Poker.
The trick is being able to win drunk, and that is unique to any other activities.
And if you think darts is a joke, I have 20yrs experience and 100 bucks that says prove it.
When I practiced it was in a backroom at home, after work and stone cold sober. Just like any skill it takes a lot of practice.

Absolutely. It takes skill to throw a projectile into a very small target (triple 20 usually). Now, consider the javelin thrower.....he just 'chucks' a stick in a general forward direction.....still considered a sport, god knows why though!

It is considered a sport and it does require some physical skill, nonetheless you wouldn't be able to tell by some of the looks of those who play it

I wouldn't have thought so, and they'd really be stuffed if they made darts part of a triathlon event wouldn't they!
