Your skin gets dry for a variety of reasons and lotion alone doesn't solve the problem.

You need to exfoliate with a good scrub at least once a week to slough off the dry skin, otherwise just applying lotion won't allow it to properly absorb into your skin.

Do not use regular bar soap. Glycerin soap is best for your skin because it is a humectant and assists your skin in retaining its own natural moisture.

You should use a lotion that is free of petroleum or mineral oil.

I recommend Salt Scrub, Glycerin Soap and Shea Butter.

I have really dry skin and found that St. Ives Vitamin E Advanced therapy lotion works really, really well...especially on the rough spots like elbows and knees. The best part is that it is not greasy but lasts a long time. Plus it's not as expensive as some of the other moisture therapy lotions that I've tried.

grape seed oil. It is cheap and available at your grocery stores. It is also an excellent oil to add essentials oil to. It should last for about 30 days.

I swear, anything with oatmeal! I had the same problem and even Suave with oatmeal worked! Aveeno would probably be the best but I wouldnt go any cheaper then suave (but it works tho!)
