The best part about windows is Windows Explorer.
You can make new folders and name them.
I don't know where you clutter is but mine is in My Documents and my Desktop. My solution to this was making a filing system. My Documents was where I started. I made up folders for each type of file I had. One more music, one for videos, one more schoolwork, one for work, one for installers and another one labeled Other. As for the desktop I just cleaned up all the shortcuts and moved them into my quick launch on my taskbar. I know where everything is, if not I know where to start looking.

I follow very simple rule. Categorize your files and create folder for each category. Creating partition always helps like the other member said. This way if you have to reinstall your OS, your files will be in a safe place.

The BEST way to keep anything relating to your computer organized, is to create folders.
I recently created a folder called "Birthday Pics" because I needed to use "Window Movie Maker" to make a movie slideshow from digital pictures taken at a birthday party. So,the simplest, fastest way of making the process easy, was to put all of those digital pictures in one folder that I labeled myself.
Now, if I wanted to get more organized, I could even create sub-folders inside of the main "labeled" folders. For example; my "Birthday Pics" folder could branch off into more detail, If I created additional folders inside of this folder in naming them by "months","years", or "names" of people.
So, for me, starting off with a MAIN subject folder, that eventually branches off into sub-folders, is THE most effective way to stay organized. Try it for yourself and see if it makes things MUCH more easier for you. :)

ko at least your harddist is partitioned into 3 partitions make 1 for audio files 1 for operating system 1 for your programs or backup programs
in program section you can make one folder for graphics which is photos and graphics programs and one for video one for OS programs and so on you have the options for that
and don't place anything on desktop when downloading anything download it to its location direct and don't let it on your desktop.
