Let's hope so, in a profound sense. Probably within 100 years, when most countries are 'developed', there will be two dominant economies, India and China. #3 will be Europe, by then including Russia and Turkey.
How will India use that strength? Hopefully not to boss other nations, which India has no history of doing. Hopefully to promote the spiritual values that are India's heritage, such as truth (in business as well as personal life), respect for others, generosity, compassion, and peace (shanti) (including what we in the West are now re-learning as "work-life balance").
I am not Indian but I mix with a number of Indians and I see them valuing of learning from others' success instead of envying or undermining it, in contrast to too many both white and black people. I don't see resentment at history, unlike some people's views of colonialism and slavery. I do see a strong culture that is relatively impervious to Western moral decadence. All beneficial qualities IMO.

For the sake of India, I hope not... Being a superpower is an expensive proposition; instead of investing in infrastructure, education, and healthcare, a superpower's goverment has to "invest" in military hardware. Instead of people working and paying taxes, you have to have soldiers and generals whom you have to pay out of tax revenues. Being a superpower is first and foremost an additional (and completely avoidable) tax burden.
Being Indian, you may have a passing interest in Portugese history (after all, the Portugese were the first colonizers to arrive to India and the last ones to leave). Read up on it and see where the Portugese superpower of 15th century ended up and how it happened...
Also, look at the U.S., the current superpower. It is the only advanced nation that does not have universal healthcare; its primary and secondary education consistently ranks among the worst in the industrialized world...

I'm an American and I say... you mean you aren't already? Your level of education is better (on average) than here, your social pressure to climb the economic and educational ladder is present and more prevalent than in the US, you have developed an atomic bomb (dear Vishnu don't use it!!!) which shows technological prowess, and you have the economic power of "cheap labor" from millions. You may not have the military power of the USA, but if you can solve your internal problems I would say that India already IS a "super power". Welcome to the club, brothers and sisters!

If i and you think positively we all indians rather think positively then we will prove ourselves. As most of them say no sound can be produced with one hand too. It can be heard well when there is no sound or in a clam place. But we are wrong there is sound with one hand. One tree can never become a big forest, but it can go near the tree and look down u can see future forest there. Nothing can be changed in one night probably Its a matter of time and also depends on how we think and take things.

Why are Indians so negative and insecure?
I have seen the light of 1000 stars,
But none so bright as the light within!

Indians have the tendency to self-destruct.
While most crabs in the world are transported in sealed cages, Indian crabs are transported in a bucket. That is because there is no risk of escape. If one of the crabs should decide to attempt an escape the other crabs will pull him back.
