While I was listening to a a podcast today, I temporarily put my psp to sleep (which is something I usually do even when playing a game; just by pausing it and picking where I left off later) and once I turned it back on, and went back to the audio track I was playing, my PSP froze up on me! I couldnt control anything! So I forcefully had to turn it off (by holding the on switch up until the screen went off) and I turned it back on. The green light in the right-hand side began to rapidly flash for a minute or so and finally it turned on. Everything seemed normal as I had the audio track back up and running but a new problem came up: the headphone adapter (the one with the fast forward/rewind volume up/down) doesnt work!! Including that, when I try to fast forward or rewind with the D-Pad, it doesnt stop when I release either fwd or rewind.

It sounds like a hardware problem. Here are just some guesses at what you might want to try.

1. Unplube the headphone adapter to see if the D-Pad works normal without it.

2. If the D-pad does not work normal with the adapater unplugged then you may need to take the face plate off and clean out any dust and particles that may be stuck under the D-Pad.
