These are the people who buy The Enquirer, The Star, People Magazine etc. They are also the people who watch Oprah, Dr. Phil, The Tony Danza Show, Ellen, etc.
They are the ones keeping the untalented afloat today. Are they ruining pop culture.

When it is all about the money, people make shows that the most people will watch. One writing class I took said if I wanted to make a living writing I needed to write for middle age and older women because they are spending the most money right now.

No - middle aged women don't care about Paris Hilton and seeing boobs in every movie. We are not ruining pop culture and I do not buy the Star OR watch Oprah!
It was ONE Prof who said this to you, and their opinion is WRONG. We middle age Moms spend money on our KIDS - not ourselves.
Are the young screwing up the value system in the US? Are they listening to rap, hip hop, and watching obscene movies so that Hollywood want to turn out just R movies with nudity in them?

Naw, the guys are just as guilty. And quite frankly the middle age and older have no clue who the current pop freaks are - thank goodness. These folks have life experience so if they read the fluff - it's for entertainment. It's our culture that is ruining pop culture. We buy into media's propaganda because we don't know any better. Do I care what the stars wore at the Emmy's - NO. Do I care if so and so had a baby? No. Do I care about so and so's life - no. I feel sorry for those that seek the life of an entertainer because they become a shell of a person on the outside and sometimes self destruct because of the pressure. No privacy - no freedom, starving themselves, getting plastic parts - why envy that?

Not every middle aged woman buys magazines, especially useless Enquirer, etc. As for Oprah, Dr. Phil, etc. if someone young would actually watch / listen and heed some advice maybe they wouldn't be so disrespectful. Plus, young ones who are obsessed with people like Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, etc are not getting what we middle aged women would call "respectful" role models. As far as I'm concerned, it's the young ones today that are ruining pop culture.

Ruining pop culture? Your question makes NO sense. Big surprise. Pop culture is all about sexualizing young girls, brutally raping and killing women. That culture is ruining the world. Look at the difference from the sixties with peace and love at the center of culture.
No, big fat white men are making the money publishing the Enquirer and creating talk shows. You don't have a clue.
Maybe you need to come out of the closet with all your fellow thugs. Your educational level is SO obvious. It's scary.

I completely believe you! i've got been with my first boyfriend for 2 and a a million/2 years, and no you will have faith it. We in no way had a relationship in the previous, and did no longer comprehend what to assume, yet we are so so so chuffed, and we in no way have intercourse! we are waiting for marriage. some human beings attempt to make me out to be a freak for how I stay, yet i'm able to 't comprehend why. we've lots exciting and not in any respect become uninterested in the different. i think of pop custom has made women human beings insecure. You watch hollyoaks or intercourse contained in the city, and ladies all and sundry is cheating and drowsing around. Relationships are not meant to final anymore of their eyes. They become uninterested in intercourse with the comparable guy, or vice versa. Even the discomfort aunts in magazines, that's all approximately drifting husbands etc. i used to be terrified that if I ever have been given married that my better half might at last become uninterested in me and cheat. you do no longer see any distinction contained in the media, all we hear approximately is the main up-tp-date action picture star injury up and that they are with somebody else a week later eg Katie cost. Or a celebrity who places up with a cheater, eg Cheryl Cole. And maximum of ladies human beings look as much as those women human beings. that's what they assume now! It so no longer undemanding to place what i'm thinking into words, yet i'm at the back of you a hundred%! you are going to make some female greater desirable than chuffed :)

Where did you take your writing course because you need to ask for a refund.
Anyway, there are many aspects to popular culture. I think that what's ruining popular culture is the youth market. The music sounds all the same by bad artists and t.v. shows are quite bad.
