I'm not a big fan of Norton. Check on the net for a better virus software and use something else.

The best way is to download Ccleaner here http://bitly.com/UrALrK
Or you can go on Windows operating system locate the command prompt and go there to do the following:
Create a Recovery file of system and date it today.
Then begin by;
delete the 'Temp' folders..they have hidden subfolders so you need to set the attributes in order to bypass this. For each subfolder delete all cookies and rubbish left behnd after install-uninstalled programs. Do a 'dir' command to check your progress. Make sure the 'Temp' file is empty.
goto c:\windows\prefetch and delete everything in there..no exceptions
goto c:\windows folder and delete all the '$' files that have been installed by updates. They can all be succesfully deleted and just take up disk space.
Locate the Internet Temporary Files..Check to see how high the saving level is..some have it set at 30 days..but that stores faaaar tooo much data..though it slows down the system overal. Keep this to a minimum..suggest 2 or 5 at most.
Delete all 'cookies' all those you don't need.
Locate the windows directory and go through the folders you know and those you don't need. Check this once a week at least. Some programs will install under XP as NT and older systems where there is no check of systems weight.
Check to see that system files have not changed since last booting. Things like .ini files or .bat are important items.
Check for 'Hidden Directories' all over the disk...do this at the command prompt:
dir *.* /ah wil show these hidden directories
Check the 'dir' command for all parameters

Hold on, if Norton isn't picking up the virus, then what program is?
Sigh, here we go, "Virus removal 101"
1. Make sure your virus software is up to date with the latest virus definitions.
2. Perform a full pre-boot scan (that's before your O/S is up and running).
3. If you can safely delete the intruders, do so.
4. If not, back up all your documents / mp3's / porn on removable storage.
5. Format your hard drive, and re-install your operating system.
6. Download ZoneAlarm (http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/home.jsp) and Avast! Anti-virus (http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html) both free and excellent programs to keep you safe.
7. Download new virus definitions at least once a month, and keep your firewall up and running all the time.
8. You are now safe from virus attacks and hackers.

the problem is that the progra you've were given is norton safe practices which isn't an really solid software. purely norton 360 is the most acceptable contained in the norton decision. in case you need an outstanding loose antivirus software get carry of undercover agent ware well-known practitioner. it truly is amazingly strct or maybe delets low threat information which norton doesnt do. word: purely installation undercover agent ware well-known practitioner after uninstalling norton 360 because in certain circumstances undercover agent ware well-known practitioner thinks your Norton is a plague and ought to restart your pc after a blue demonstrate of lack of existence.

hi, perhaps you can try norton to remove the virus and protect your PC, but you need to pay for the software.
i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can disable all virus to run, because the virus can only run on IE.
besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.
firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.
download firefox for free:

this is not a suprise, for some reason alot of p.c users have got the idea in their head that "norton anti-virus"installed on thier system makes them invincible...WRONG
although norton has a few good points, its no better ,if not worse than most of the free alternatives,i installed a free anti-virus program called avast 4.7(http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html)on a p.c that previously had norton anti-virus on it,and low and behold, avast found 11 infections that norton didnt find
also i would recommend installing a few good free anti-spyware programs as this sounds more like a spyware infection than a virus
spybot(http://www.safer-networking.org/) and lavasoft adaware(http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/) are 2 brilliant anti-spy programs that work well together, just remember to keep them updated, and in the case of spy-bot imunize it after every update, this will protect you from spyware if it tries to manifest itself on your system
also it may be a good idea to run the program "ewido anti-spyware"(http://www.ewido.net/en/),if the other 2 programs dont shift the infection as ewido is better as shifting harder to move infections
if you havent allready you should download and install"windows defender"(http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=435BFCE7-DA2B-4A6A-AFA4-F7F14E605A0D&displaylang=en),this works by scanning your system in the background and if any infection is found ,it will immediately inform you and ask you what you would like to do,the recommended action is delete, this can be run with your current anti-virus software, and you can run as many anti-spyware programs as you like,i run 3(spybot,adaware,ewido) and also defender, and i have no conflicts between the programs
if you are ever unsure about any viruses, you can allways use the microsoft"malicous software removal tool"(http://www.microsoft.com/security/malwareremove/default.mspx),this will scan your system for the 50 most nasty viruses in the wild, and will remove them if required, again this can be used with your current anti-virus software
you should also make sure you have a firewall installed(i use windows),but there is a good free firewall called "zone alarm" (http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/company/products/znalm/freeDownload.jsp),this is a good free firewall and can be configured to suit the users taste
you can set up a brilliant security package on your system for free,by using good reliable free software and as long as its kept up-to-date and you use the internet safely you should stay pretty well clear of any infection
i hope this info will clean this infection and keep your system clean in the future
good luck

I had a quick look at the Norton site & found the following link which may be of use to you. I'd do it first, rather than reformatting anything...good luck.
