Grand Plaza Parkroyal, Penang - it is not bungalow type but it nestled beaside the sea and it is not too high. About 6 storey high only.

Casuarina Beach Resort
Golden Sands Resort
Lone Pine Penang - this is a hotel favored by expats in Malaysia.

The Grand Plaza Park Royal is lovely and has some nice grounds for relaxing round it. If you go, be sure to go to their beach bar to watch the sun set- it it spectacular.
If we return we might also try the Golden Sands- it did look nice.
Whichever you one you pick - do not eat their all the time. There are countless great little local restaurants at a fraction of the price of hotel food, and you can't fault them!!
