I twisted my knee three weeks ago playing soccer. I heard a popping sound. I have been improving since then. the doctor said i have a tear in my meniscus . I can walk and bend my knee. however, i can't do all kind of motions. can I go on with my normal life style and wait before doing the surgery? is it possible I can do fine with PT and rest? how long i can wait before doing the surgery? how long it takes for the meniscus to fully recover if it is possible?

It will get progressively worse until you can no longer perform normal activities. Depends on how hard you push yourself. One mis-step and you are going to be down and unable to walk. The other problem is that your other knee will be used more heavily while compensating for the injury. You could wind up with both of them in considerable pain. Just go get it scoped and be done. It is an outpatient procedure and you will be back on your feet (although slowly) the next day.

The cost of knee joint replacement surgery is very low in India as compared to USA,UK and Canada. You can get the surgery done there in a fraction of cost of what would you pay in USA or private UK

There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges orthopaedic surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.

I have also read that they arrange financing for american and canadian patients as all surgery is not covered by insurance or by NHS in the UK.They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your knee joint replacement surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

My cousin also got her knee replacement surgery for in India through the forerunners healthcare .She is more than very happy with the results. She is totally pain free now.She just paid 25% of the amount she was quoted in USA and is all praise for this forerunners healthcare company. hope this helps.
I would recommend this company to you as you are willing to travel abroad and get the surgery at low cost.

^ to the above poster, he wants and ORTHOPEDIST, not an osteopath. While your orthopedist MAY be an osteopath, osteopathy is a school of medical philosophy (DO) not a specialty.
