I used to until I realized I expected too much on that day. It is only a day I soon realized the hard way. Today is that day for me. I expect nothing. If my husband remembers fine, if not it is still fine. My son did not remember and I dropped him off to school already. My mother who lives with me cannot remember because she has Alzheimer's. My father never cared enough to know the date. However, I am happy to know that I am alive to see another year. I have life, health, strength, a loving husband, a wonderful family and the ability to care for an aging parent. I am blessed. Who cares if nobody remembers that today is my birthday? Maybe I do a little.

Yes I do, but I imagine all the other people out there with birthdays on the same day as mine and mentally wish them a Happy Birthday, especially people born in the same year as me - I think of their Mums sweating away all those years ago to give birth on the same day as my Mum did.

Well, on my birthday I've had a family member die as a result of crime and my birthday fell on the same day as the Omagh bombing in Northern Ireland (15th August). Makes me feel for people born on 11th of September.
Still, have to realise I am not the center of anyone elses universe (yet).

I know where you're coming from! I was born on Labor Day and my birthday falls on Labor day every 7 years (this year it was.) I sing Happy Birthday to myself lots! (may be silly, but MY DAY needs recognition!) Guess I become really childlike about it, but SO WHAT? It's YOUR SPECIAL DAY and it only happens once a year!! You can't expect the world to notice it's YOUR day, but in your personal circle MAKE A BIG DEAL OF IT!! It IS a big deal!

I think the government should make a law that when it's your birthday you have the day off!

Nope. I would hate to have the whole world stop just because of me. It would get boring after a while.
