No Iraq was not a DIRECT threat to America. The thinking behind the invasion of Iraq was for the Bush Administration to start a war that they could win. Now obviously that is not what happened, and we see the results billions of dollars and thousands of casualties later. The Bush administration felt that the people of Iraq would welcome us with open arms and be happy to get rid of The Saddam government. (Wrong Again).
The threat to America is a President that thinks he is a cowboy and sees the Islamic world as Indians.

I believe most American's feel Saddam and his regime was and would be a future threat. Not specifically the country itself. There were terrorist forces in his country and he did nothing. However, there are terrorist forces in MANY countries, and the US darn well can't go into EVER country. By going into Iraq, the US is replacing the government, so the future government will take action against terror forces in the country.
Oh yeah, and eventually the people will be greatful for their new found freedom.

Most people believe what the media and government say. Therefore the name of the game in Democracies for your average morally bankrupt or self deluded politician is 'manufactured consent'
The government manufactures our consent through a barrage of authoritative propaganda and more often than not outright lies. They lie about virtually everything to keep the population onside and under control. They lie about economic figures, jobless numbers, money supply, taxation (watch my lips) and they lie about their reasons for going to war.
It appears that the so called 'war on terror' is largely a propaganda exercise designed to instigate a belligerent foreign policy and further the Project for a New American Century (PNAC). The war on Iraq was justified by a multitude of blatant lies and mutated half truths.
If anyone really believes Iraq was a threat to America they are a trusting and naive soul or a halfwit.

No! American citizens do not believe the citizens of Iraq are or were a threat to us!
But we do believe there were and are many radical terrorists living in Iraq who are a threat to us!
I have seen the light of 1000 stars,
But none so bright as the light within!

The common belief (by other countries too) was that Sadaam had WMD's. At the same time, he kicked UN inspectors out. He would not comply with numerous UN resolutions. Although Sadaam may not have been directly involved in 9/11, what the president has said is that AFTER 9/11, we could no longer take the risk of weapons falling into the hands of terrorists. Sadaam would have gladly sold weapons to someone who wanted to use them on America. The fact that WMD were not found, doesn't change the validity of the rationale AT THE TIME, when it was widely believed that they existed. Also, they may have been moved in the months leading up to war.

They hijacked some planes and killed hundreds of ppl, does that not count as a threat? How many people does a group of terrorists have to kill before you think they're a threat to the WORLD, nevermind the U'S...how many men, women and children were killed in England when they blew up the main source of public transport during rush hour? Yes, I think the Americans believe they are a threat and I think they're right too.

common sense will tell you that iraq was indeed a threat especially after saddam's army lost to the americans in gulf war, there was an incentive to "hit back"
and then saddam started showing his disapproval of israeli atrocities when his own army created atrocities in kuwait, just another tactic to fool the sheeple in mid east countries and gain their support in war against the US and israel

Not sure what the question is. With the loose cannons(Saddam) around the world anyone can be a threat to anyone.
