a THREE letter word?.....hmmmmmmm.
40 years in sailboats and I have never heard the word peg used to secure a line...it's almost always on a cleat; a bitt ( two tee's) is the post like thing that sticks up from the deck..........for three letters all I can suggest is pin, as in belaying pin....the thing that looks like a rolling pin that pirates are always wacking each other over the head with...
