RE:
Lord of the Rings. Two Towers. Has anyone noticed that Gandalf is wearing white converse?
When he reveles himself to Arragon and the crew. Its the scene where he turns and points out into the distence( or calling for his horse), right before the hope on the horses.

After he battled the Balrog and returned to the beyond (I can't think of what it's called at the moment as it is very early in the morning here), he returned and took control of the white counsil. He became Sauruman in a sense. He said "Indeed I am Sauruman, Sauruman as he should have been" when he spoke to Gimli in Fangorn. When he broke Sauruman's staff, the transformation was complete. Now, don't misunderstand, he didn't need to do that in order to truly become the white wizard; he did it to show Sauruman that he no longer had power. In the book Merry and Pippin are discussing it and the conversation runs like this (more or less) "Sauruman used to be gandalf's boss, now he comes when he's called and goes away when he's dismissed." Gandalf needed Sauruman to understand that he was not the push over that he pretended to be for many years.

You're kidding. No, but next time I'll look. Here's a good laugh. The first time I saw this movie, I thought Patrick Stewart was portraying Gandalf. Well, wouldn't you, if you didn't know any better? Ian looks and sounds just like Picard under that beard.

YES. HE HAS "UPGRADE" HIMSELF FROM "GANDALF THE GREY TO "GANDALF THE WHITE", MEANING HIS WIZARDS SKILLS IMPROVED.
