I dont think love is an addiction. And I dont understand what do poeple mean by saying "true love" and just "love". It is either love or no love ... thats it!!!
It depends on any individual's attitude that he makes it an addiction or understands the emotion of love. Love is positive in sense and addiction is negative, usually.
Love cannot be addiction coz addiction means == Being abnormally dependent on something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming (especially alcohol or narcotic drugs) or An abnormally strong craving or may be number of other meanings.
Love is something that gives you a pleasent feeling and something that can give you a feeling of being alive as Love is the strongest of all human emotions.
Love is a strong positive emotion of regard and affection.
Love can be for any object of warm affection or devotion.
Love can be for a beloved person; used as terms of endearment.
Love can be a deep feeling of sexual desire and attraction.

There are things that feels like love but is not love at all. I would agree that love is addictive if there is genuine care and understanding, and the relationship makes you feel good about yourself and make you the best that you can be.
The other things that feels like love but are addictive as well are lust, obsession and rebounding. Lust is an instantaneous attraction between two people who dont know much of each other, but eventually wears of when they see both in the light. Obsession is a relationship in which an individual loves another even if she/he loses her individuality.
Love and all things that are like love are addictive. And like all things addictive, stopping it has its withdrawal symptoms.
Hmm, if so, is lovemaking also addictive?.. I'll leave that to your imagination.;)

The word "love "has different meanings in the English and Inida nlanguages . While it is generally applied too affection between humans in various relations , it is more closely applied to sexual relationships. So love is more related to sex than any attachment of heart or emotion. It is just lust that is referred to as love .It is infatuation and an atractionof the physique .in the mind of most people . But love is sup[posed to be a strong feeling of attachment between individuals without any expectation of reward and a willingness to sacrifice for the other person . This sort of love is found only in parents and particularly in mothers for their childen . It is sometimes seen among children also to some extent before their marriages . fter marriage , the values of love changes with most people . real love does not depend on physical beauty . love based on the physique is llust and it does notlast longer .
Love is the blossom of beauty , beauty , that of virtue and that of character.
Love based on physique is just lust and it is an addiction. It blinds man and dulls the brain.

I would not call it love but you can be addicted to something you think is love. I call it cathexis, " the process of investment of mental or emotional energy in a person, object, or idea." This is really more like an obsession than it is true love.

yes , without doubt love is an addiction . One who falls in love forgets his father and mother who loved him and cared for him for ages and start loving the man/girl whom she/he met yesterday

Kid, addiction to ANYTHING can't be good. Your brain becomes coo-coo like CoCo Puffs and you can't think your way out of a paper bag. Trust me.
