I feel like all these books that you get so attached to the characters and you feel as though you're part of their story make them touching or sad. You become the character and you feel all the emotions that are described and then it feels like you too have really lost someone close to you.
Although these books can be sad and/or touching they seem to be the good books that keep you wanting more!

Nicholas Sparks is one of my favorite authors and I think that the reason why his books are very touching and sad is because he uses tragedy and love in his stories. Plus, he is also a hopeless romantic and it always show on his books.

I think that any book that examines the human condition moves us. The greatest of all is love & loss and its effect on us. The experience and feelings are universal and regardless of age, race, nationality, sex, ethnicity (you get the picture) we can all relate to a story of love and loss. That is why Romeo and Juliet is so widely read in many languages......

The instances Sparks deals with are very realistic, so when you read them you can easily relate to the characters and experience their pain.
