The need to protect all life forms on Earth including ourselves is a crucial one. We can use Space, once a means to move into the environment more cheaply is found. For example: A Space Elevator, which is theoretically and nearly physically possible, would enable humankind to expand outwards. Using the raw materials that are plentiful within the planets and asteroid belts out there we could create Nuclear power stations in space, to provide enough power to do what we want. Move all polluting industries into space. Any pollutants can be propelled into the Sun. It would enable the use of H2O as a means of waste free power on the planet. Which would free the planet to be the Garden of life it should be.
