I live in a peaceful cul-de-sac in Watertown, MA. Two weeks ago my father was hit by a drunk driver (foul mouthed, a drugs addict, probably black) on our driveway. This almost destroyed our happy suburban life. Because of this the right side of my father's left foot is paralyzed for the rest of his life. My mother saw the disaster happen and since then, she can't come out of the house any longer because she's grown afraid of cars. Now I have to do all the grocery shopping. I wrote a letter to the city council, asking if they could forbid cars for two weeks in the streets surrounding our cul-de-sac. This would help her get used to the idea of leaving the house again. Would you believe the city refused to even consider it? Frankly I'm offended as a tax payer that practical considerations are superior to the delicate feelings of the citizen.

One thing you need to realize about your happy suburban life.....once you step out of the front door of your house, you are in the REAL WORLD. The REAL WORLD is full of real danger and real risks and that includes drunk drivers (some of which live right in your neighborhood).
And now you have to do ALL the grocery shopping. You poor, poor thing. You have it so rough. I will start a telethon for you right away and write congress and tell them to close the entire street your house is on.
Pleeese.

When I got to the words "probably black" in your rant, I nearly stopped reading. How do you know it's a black person? I think this question is probably some kind of joke on your part, so I won't dignify it with a real answer.

Kid, get a life. Its not the city counsil place to help your mom, they didnt do anything to her. How bout going and asking your neighbors for help, hell, i doubt you even know your neighbors. Quite looking for the government to do everything for you, do something for yourself and your family, Man-up. Quite whinning.

Give your mom a blindfold to wear as you lead her to your car, take her on a ride to a therapist. She needs help.
