although a few companies have backed out (because of language and comprehension problems), the call center industry seems to be doing extremely well and will continue to do well in the near future.

I was just laid off by washington mutual since they outsourced my specific job to india...i for one have a hard time understanding those with such thick accents (one of my old managers was from lebanon and it took me awhile to understand...but i talked to him everyday)...i think that when the jobs are outsourced to other companies the employees should provide their real names...not the fake american names; i talked to a dell rep the other day and he told me his name was josh warner or something like that and i almost laughed cause i know that he lied to me...if the companies cannot even provide you with that simple honestly i don't think the company even has the customer's best interest at heart...its all about the $$$$$$$.

Personally I think its going to die - especially in the UK. Customers are standing up for their rights and complaining that we don't want non-english call centres for supposedly "british" companies.

When I call my bank, or anywhere else that is just as sensitive, I don't want to have to encounter a language barrier as well. The UK population appear to agree with me and are biting back. Banks now have tv adverts stating clearly "come to us because our call centres are actually in the UK". This is getting more and more popular.

So in my humble opinion the days of the indian (or wherever) call centres are numbered. The people are showing their disapproval with their feet.

I think the call centre industry will continue to head towards the lowest cost ie to India and other Asian countries where highly intelligent but comparatively cheaper staff and overheads can be retained.

it has no future because people are turning against them in there millions, apart from the push button nightmare, when you get through the person can not understand you or what you want,
you are also paying for their business via the telephone charges, its a shambolic joke,, the quicker people stop using businesses that use them the quicker we will get rid of them,,

I'm sick of banks, etc, passing my financial details overseas. With the shite wages they get paid, are you trying to say the temptation is not there?
