When making with wallpaper paste is it best to make up as per the packet instructions or should it be watered down more?
Any other tips would also be weclome.
This is for a grown up not kids.

Wallpaper paste contains fungicide which you don't want soaking into your skin. I usually use Scola Cell, which is similar, made up fairly thinnish. Some people use thinned PVA but I find this too sticky. If you are making mache rather than laying on strips the it is best too tear it very small (takes ages) and then boil it for a bit before adding the paste to make it as unlumpy as possible.

You can buy a cheat pack of papier mache granules just add water.

PVA painted over the last layer gives strength but you need to follow up with a coat of emulsion for a base before you paint your item.

i would make it following packet instructions first, and try it, if it is too thick, then add water a little at a time until you get the consistency that you are looking for.
