First of all, you can not go wrong with Honda. The CRV has been made for 5 years now, so all issues with drive trane, etc. have been likely fixed (if there were any). The gas milage is standard for a small SUV. They have the 4 and 6 cylinder engines - depends on how much power and hauling you plan on doing. Congratulations!

My 98 crv had electrical problems when new, and spent 30 days being diagnosed. Honda paid that car payment for me. For the last 201 000 miles, my CRV has been trouble-free. It has not stranded me since the. I have no hesitation about driving it anywhere.
Its awd has been very good in the winter.
I get about 26 mpg, mostly highway (manual tranny), and, believe it or not, got my first brake job at 201 000 miles.
I love my crv. It carries 5 people and a bunch of stuff inside or on the roof. I am praying that there will be either a diesel or hybrid version soon. When I get to about 300 000 miles, I will think about getting another (unless mine is still running well).

Hi =), me and my fiancee just bought (signed the papers yesterday) our first car as well, we too were considering the crv since we have a 6 month old and need the room of an suv but not the gas milage, however we ended up going w a subaru forrester insted, they really are superior to the crv in a lotta ways, like you get better gas milage since its only a four cyl but it still has a lot of power cause its a boxer (side slant) motor and for me to say that about ANY four cyl is a feat since im a v-8 chevy guy thru and thru and have been doin mechanics most of my life and was NEVER impressed by a four till the RU, its still jap so you still get that reliability that youd expect (and sad to say has been lacking since the '90s from most american car make!) plus its got but loads of cargo room and sits real comfortable, also ive heard bad things about the brakes on CRV's but never a peep of dislike about ANYTHING on the forresters, im a slow typer otherwise id sit here all day and tell you about 'em but your best bet is just to look up the reviews online and come to your own conclusions, besides people need differnt cars for differnt reasons so what suited us might not be good for you, either way hope this helps somewhat and either way congrats =)

I love the Honda CRVs. They are a 4 cylinder so it is kind of weak on speed. Fair on gas mileage. $$$ more if you get 4x4. Hondas are good cars. I have owned 2 now. Well worth the value and holds their price when you go to resell them.

The CRV is basically an SUV built on the chasis of the Civic. Its a good car for a temporary vehicle but for long term I'd go with a Toyota Rav-4.

crv is nice, or bump up a little bigger with a pilot. those cars should last a long time. if you plan on towing a lot, or camping, outdoor stuff, get something with a little more power like a 4runner/sequoia or armada.

They have unbeatable reliability, good performance, very good resale value and they're pretty economical, handling is good but not great.
