Fiona Apple - very few know of her in this country, yet she is my hero!
Shes from New York and a wonderful singer songwriter. If I had half the amount of talent she has I would be happy!
She's had quite a traumatic childhood, what with getting raped when she was a child, and then becoming anorexic. But she has fought all of this and is an inspiration - using the said heart ache in her wonderfully bluesy but different songs.
She plays usually in a piano, bass, drum formula, but includes many weird and wonderful instruments you've never heard of before. She is BRILLIANT!!!

Saw a singer called Sarah Lowries in a musical at Cromer's End Of The Pier theatre earlier in the Summer. She was excellent. Great voice and a massive stage presence.....she will be very famous one day.

Calaisa
Swedish all-girl band consisting of two pairs of sisters and a non-related drummer! They supported Simply Red on his mini tour in the summer, and play mainly country-style rock/pop. They all play their own instruments (no backing tracks here) and write their own songs, although their debut album includes songs written by others as well.
Oh yeah, the fact that they are all gorgeous doesn't do any harm, eitherh

BILLIE MYERS . singer from the uk . most people don't know her but will know her hit KISS THE RAIN , buy the album Growing Pains and get a great singer back in the charts .
