This website gives comparative viewing figures for UK tv channels, showing that BBC1&2 (the two channels which do NOT have adverts) have consistently higher numbers of viewers than the channels which show advertisements. P.S. I'm against adverts on tv too - I HATE them!

Well look at how popular cable TV movie channels are such as HBO and Showtime. Also look at how XM radio and Sirius radio have grown vs FM. People will pay for the XM because they want to avoid the stupid ads on FM and because of the wider choice of music.

As for sources there are NONE. This is basically an opinion question.

HBO...Better programming and more original content than on any of the networks. All the major networks try to copy and one-up each other at the expense of their viewers.
