Again the comic neophytes show their ignorance.... Now, I am not belittling or debasing their opinions, but if they did a little research and/or actually read quite a few comic books, like yours truly, they'd know that the Green Lantern can actually make kryptonite with his ring. Now, with that said, it should be noted that the only serious contender against Superman would have to be Hal Jordan, who is now the Spectre. But back when Hal wore the ring, his strength of will could be argued to be on par with Superman's - and the iron will is what powers that ring! So in essence, Green Lantern CAN beat Superman....

First it depends upon the situation and who's comic the fight is taking place in. Second Paper wraps Stone (comic beats Kryptonite) Third, Superman is very powerful, was several times considered to become a Green Lantern. He has the will power, superspeed, super strength, flight, superbreath, heat vision... I hope you get the idea.

Green Lantern has the power ring, so if its fully charged, he can do whatever he likes to to Superman.
