I have it on good authority from Mr Spoon and Eggbert that you can't use rough sugar, as their rocket only runs on the very finest four-star candy floss.
The average stock of a sea-side shop or fairground confectionery seller (22.75 * 1.8 litre bags) is enough for 7.2 laps of the milky way, so an afternoon jaunt to Button Moon only takes about 3 gob-fulls.

Watch out for the space monkeys and hyper-galactic banana on your travels though.

There is no way of converting the energy into rocket propulsion - 1 cup of sugar in the fuel tank would bugger it up and you wouldn't get off the ground.
Your best bet is to use masses of sugar (at least 264,557 tons) to entice the moon down(?) to you.

I have seen toddlers bouncing off the walls and ceiling after only a few teaspoons of sugar, so I figure a couple of kilograms would do the trick.

convert all the sugar mass into nuclear power, it takes less than a spoon to send you and your family to the moon.

But you first need to invent such a high efficiency nuclear power generator.

Now, if you had asked - "How many cups of tea or mugs of coffee does it take to get to the moon?" you may have had some pretty interesting answers.

I don't think there'd be enough sugar on the planet to get you there! But hey! Ask NASA or Richard Branson! They've got safer ways to send you there if you wish and if you do go ... Can you please bring me back a porcelain thimble? I collect them you see!
