There is no site specific way of losing fat... the old myth about working your abs to burn belly fat isn't true. To get rid of love handles, you need to lose overall fat. That happens with exercise and watching your diet. More on that below.

The most effective way to lose fat is aerobic exercise in the "moderate" fat-burning range, ideally first thing in the morning before you eat. When you wake your body is ready to burn fat and your levels of growth hormone are highest at that time. Later in the day it can take up to 30 minutes just to put your body into a fat-burning mode.

Another overlooked way to burn fat is by lifting weights. Skeletal muscle has very high caloric needs... almost twice that of adipose (fat) tissue. Put on a little muscle and you will burn calories all day even at rest. Be aware that skeletal muscle weighs more, so with this approach you may see your weight increasing while your body fat is melting away. Not realizing this often stresses folks who think they should be losing weight as a measure of fitness. Forget the scale, look in the mirror and you will be happy.

For diet, keep a diary for a couple of weeks counting calories, grams of protein, and grams of fat intake. It is easy with online sources of nutritional information (type the name of the food and calories into the Google search engine) and packaging labels. That will let you quickly figure out where the fat is coming from in your diet.

Fat gives you 9 calories per gram. So take the number of grams of fat, multiply by 9, then calculate what percentage the fat calories are of your total daily calories. Restricting the calories from fat to about 20% of your total intake is ideal for a maintenance diet... that isn't overly restrictive. Of note, you need some fat in your diet. For instance, the body uses fat to produce hormones. Once you have a picture of how to modify your diet, you can drop the diary and just go back to it occasionally if you are wanting to tweek things further.

There is a subset of questions that goes further and asks about "How to get a six-pack?" The answer is the same. Six-packs are 20% abdominal exercise and 80% diet. There is one caveat... abdominal muscles will form in the position that you exercise them, so be certain to pull them tightly toward your spine while doing crunches, etc. Also, during most lifting, the "core is active" which means that you should be stabilizing with contracted abs then too. Fail to do this and the abs will form, but bulging outward and the result is not attractive.

If you are trying to build muscle as a way to lose fat, then you may need to increase total calories and specifically your protein intake. I target about 0.8 g of protein per pound of body weight each day when actively building. That is far more protein than most people need in their diets.

Hope this is helpful to someone.

Aloha

Misses love making? Sex is the best excercise you can get - it seems to me that the spark from this relationship went long ago for you to be "missing lovemaking" It would appear that there are more deep seated problems than size of belly - this is one that can be rectified with better diet - and your comments about £££ seem to hint at this also. A sense of honouring the vows made before God may be the only thing still keeping you together but with the best will in the world it wouldnt be right to continue this if you're both unhappy. Get some help from a professional marriage counsellor e.g. like someone at "relate" because you dont seem to have sorted your problems out yourselves - indicated partly by the fact that you've posted this question on an international advice site such as this. Wishing you luck, but advising you to deal with this properly, take care.

Who makes more money is not the issue if they're a couple.

If he's overweight, he should start losing weight. Even a small weight loss might spark the interest of his wife if she sees he is making an effort. Also, if he is overweight, losing weight will give him some extra penis length as the fat around the groin area goes away.

Do you think she'd be "interested" if you lost the flab? If so, doesn't that make her shallow? Well, if you think she's worth it, go see a doctor, start eating right and start exercising. You have the best motivation in the world so you better not skip any workouts. You've got to save your marriage!

Now if you think she is shallow and not worth it, divorce her, see that doctor, start eating right and start exercising. You have the best motivation in the world so you better not skip any workouts! You're going to start dating again! (Translation: sex with other women!)

Good luck!

What does being a Christian have to do with it? Is that an excuse? Everyone has marriage problems. Religion (and your pay) is irrelevant in this situation.

Okay this is how i see it only me. You marry to the end till death to us part. You may have a put on a little weight yep am i right? Loose some of it for yourself and your marriage then try and spice up your love life some toys for the bedroom. Ask your wife is she happy with things at the moment. Communication is the best tool in a marriage. As for your manhood, its not what size your tackle is it's what you can do with it, lots of foreplay not just intercourse, experiment. Good luck.

You don’t need to exercise for long periods of time. Short, sharp sets of exercise will produce better results should you work hard. Get a skipping rope, skip for two min's, do push ups for about a minute, skip for two minutes, rest for starters minute. Then change the push nearly something else like sit ups and also do the set again. Repeat it five times and it’s a quick, effective workout that will progress results than a long work or swim.
