He does not get a Paycheck. However he is the custodian, you could say owner of some of the world's most interesting real estate, the best art collection, and one of the most important banks. Every catholic church in the planet has to come up with certain amount of money weekly to be sent to the Vatican, and he travels on a Boeing 767. Not bad eh?

Oh! I was forgetting, his Mercedes Benz S600L Limousine, which he received as a gift, because he didn't like the other Mercedes Benz armored transports, costed over 3.5 Million dollars. Nice Perks? aren't they?

why wouldn't the Pope get paid ? All heads of state draw a paycheck. The man probably does have some personal stuff he may need cash for. If he's out in the world one day and he wants a double latte from Starbucks, what's he supposed to do ask one of his priests to lend him a couple of euros ? How embarrassing would that be? A realistic salary for the Pope would be twice what a Cardinal makes
US senators make 168K and the President makes 400K so that's a good ballpark figure for the Pope

The Pope does not use money, but has his personal needs met out of the Vatican budget. There will be a sum set aside in the accounts for the people around him to work to, but I doubt whether this is published.

It is actually a rather good question as to what the Roman Catholic church's income is and how it is spent. Firstly, the Roman Catholic church's money represents a lot of financial power. Secondly, you may recollect that a few years ago the Vatican got entangled with some very dodgy financiers who used its status as an independent state, with its own national bank, for their dealings. The cleric involved was an Archbishop Marchincus. I am not a Catholic but members of that Church should have a right to know what happens to their donations and accumulated wealth. I would presume and trust that the Catholic Church has cleaned up its financial act in the recent past.

The pope doesn't need to get paid. He has more money than god at his disposal and gets all sorts of free designer goods just for being a celebrity.

The Pope doesn't go shopping, his rent is paid for by the church, as is electricity, gas and phone bills. His food is bought and cooked for him, he is driven and flown where he needs to go by the church, they also post his letters, stock the bathroom and do his laundry. They pay for his entertainment too, so why would he need paying on top of that?

The pope is a head of state and, like the Queen, will hold that position until he dies. He does not, therefore, need a salary, credit card or cheque book, etc. All his 'expenditure' is the responsibility of the Vatican.

Papacy is not a paid job. It is avocation. You join the Society of Jesuits with a motive to spread the gospel of Jesus. You serve the cause of your religion and the church takes care of your needs.
