My husband is incarcerated and will be for 15 months. I would like to know what resources/websites are out there that explains how to move forward afterwards. Like jobs, programs, continuing higher education, getting money, etc. Helpful tips because his life will turn around for the better but I need help. The system is created for x-cons to fail so they wind right back in there but I know it is possible for him to return to normal society because I know of plenty of people who have done it. He and I have goals we have set but how does he go about trying to get back on his feet? Is there a program out there that will help him in the workforce and go back to school? Thanks for you serious responses.

He will get gate money and he can for sure, depend on his probation/parole officer to kick his *** into gear on getting a job. We have a program here in California called Community Connections and they help every step of the way. They will even help with clothing to find a job and give leads as to where to go apply. Ask his P.O. That person will certainly help lead him in the right direction for all of what you asked about. My husband did 13 years in the Federal Penitentary and did not go back at all. He now makes about 75,000.00 per year because he listened to his P.O.'s advice. If your wood gets his GED or whatever while in prison, he can apply for Pell Grants that will pay for a bunch of his further education. My ex husband and present husband both make awesome money because of those very programs. Anybody can continue and further their education and ex-cons get special grants like I mentioned above. The world is open to whatever he wants to do to better himself. Nobody wants to see an inmate return. It looks bad for the P.O., this I know. They love when an inmate can make good and not be a recidivism poster child. :) Good luck dear. Been there, done that. I would have given you websites, but you did not say whether it was state or federal.
