A 7 week old should not be sleeping through the night. He will need to feed around the clock still at that age. Remember that your child is trying to double his birthweight by 6 months of age. Imagine how frequently you would be eating! I wouldn't expect a baby to be sleeping long stretches prior to 4 mos of age. And you should know that night waking is considered normal for the entire first year.

Seperation tension. attempt putting her to sleep an hour or so later than standard, she could stay extra sleeping till 5 or 6, maybe a extra managable time for you. She may well be dealing with a improve spurt, and waking up slightly hungry. ALL my childrens went by way of this in some unspecified time interior the destiny, between 6 months and 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. ALL my childrens have slept in out mattress for the time of the tough cases, and with the help of 18 months, they have been all lower back of their own beds, napping for the time of the nighttime.

A 7 week old infant shouldn't be sleeping through the night. In order to get complete nutrition, he should be waking at least once through the night to nurse/take a bottle of formula. The baby is also waking up because he/she needs a clean diaper.

only 7 weeks. I don't think that is possible. I am sure that in a month or two your baby will get into a pattern. right now the baby needs to eat every few hours. if you think that he/she is getting enough. maybe he/she needs something that will stick longer. My son needed a little (very little) baby cereal at that age because he did not get enough from just my milk. This also helped him be satisfied for longer. You are his/her mother, you will know what is best. but it is normal for a little one that age not to sleep through the night.

At 7 weeks, asking the baby to sleep through the night is a tall order. My kids started sleeping through the night at about 3 months, and even then it wasn't regularily.

Personally, I found the book "Solve Your Child's Sleep Problems" by Robert Ferber to be our savior. Ferber's technique (at least in the 1986 book..I haven't read the new one) is a love it or leave it kind of thing. It can involve a lot of crying, but in the end, it worked for us.

Many people don't like his technique and I admit it can be tough.

Maybe it'll work for you

Good Luck! Most babies that young will not sleep through the night. They need to be fed on a round the clock basis. My son began sleeping through the night at 3 months of age, but I hear I'm lucky. Lots of babies are still getting up at 6 months or older. Please be patient, and your child will get there.

They wont sleep through the night at that age, they need to be fed and changed. They should be at least 4 months before sleeping through.

My daughter started sleeping through the night at 9 weeks. Even the doctor was telling me to keep her up later at night, while my mom told me she would just do it when she was ready. I don't agree with the keeping them up thing, especially because when my daughter was younger (she's 2 now) she would wake up earlier in the morning if she went to bed late. Just deal with things for now, and stop trying to rush it. Things like that will happen when they happen.

If you are nursing, your baby won't sleep though the night for a while because baby's digest breast milk easier than formula so they need to eat more often. One week after I stopped nursing my baby slept through the night.
