Very interesting question asked among various rubbish in this section. Sky is considered as the large area covering the earth and other planets and because of its size is more complicated to define and explain everything in sky. Can you call the air around the earth as sky or the vacuum beyond the atmosphere or the blue sky formed out of nothing but more beautiful and attractive or the clouds that travel and bring rain and thunder, lightning, or the heat and light travelling from the sun and or the moon. But SKY is nothing of these all. It is the plain thing without the addition or adulteration of any thing. But we call it the roof of earth It is fathomless. Birds and flights use it to fly.. It is very great and superb. I can not justify a full fledged answer to the question. Please go through the topic for yourself.

sky, apparent dome over the earth, background of the clouds, sun, moon, and stars. The blue color of the clear daytime sky results from the selective scattering of light rays by the minute particles of dust and vapor in the earth's atmosphere. The rays with longer wavelengths (the reds and yellows) pass through most readily, whereas the shorter rays (the blues) are scattered. An excess of dust, especially in large particles, causes scattering of many rays besides the blue, and the sky “fades” and becomes whitish or hazy. The sky thus is clearest in winter, in the morning, after a rain, over a mountain, or over the ocean. Leonardo da Vinci experimented with light and attempted an explanation of the sky's blue color. The work on light and its behavior by Sir Isaac Newton, Lord Rayleigh, and other physicists provided explanations of rainbows, sky color, mirages, and other atmospheric phenomena.

The sky is often defined as the place a person sees when he or she looks up from the earth. Although almost everyone has seen it, the sky is hard to define precisely. The concept of the sky, as it is applied here on Earth, can be generalized to mean the hemisphere above the horizon, or above the visible surface of the planet and objects attached to it. It can be seen when one looks upward from the surface of a planet (see Skies of other planets). ...

Look up in the open, standing on a high place like a mountain or so, and sky is there, what you see !
It is made up of what can be perceived through human eyes, and much more (beyond perception of sense organs )!
