I have some good, fairly expensive cologne. How long until it goes "bad"

A: We contacted the Fragrance Foundation for the answer. It says several factors can weaken a perfume's scent. Extreme temperature is a major factor, as well as extreme light. The Fragrance Foundation says the typical life span of perfume is about a year, but because the manufacturers usually don't put manufacture dates or expiration on perfume bottles, consumers can't tell how long the bottle's been sitting on the shelf. The best advice is to ask the clerk at the counter.

I've been told that the lifespan is about 12 months, but that was from the salespeople who obviously wants people to buy more cologne than they need. In truth I've had a good bottle of cologne for 3 years now and it still smells great. There is about a quarter of the bottle left.

well if you smoke it will definitely change the smell at a drastic rate. but if your not a smoker and it is a high quality cologne it will last up to 5 maybe 6 years, depending on how often and how much you use. but if you don't use it at all and just study the way it acts it will stay good for about that long. you have to keep it at room temperature so it doesn't get the molecules to cold or to hot, if the molecules themselves change temperature the smell deficiency will decrease and the cologne will start to go bad.

Depends on you, if you sweat a lot, the cologne generally doesn't last as long.

i think of with cologne it actual relies upon on what your doing alongside with physique style as to how long it lasts. i like Aspen, & Polo... the two a sort of final a protracted time on my husband yet nevertheless so does the coolwater.

Just keep it in the fridge and you never have to worry about it.
