Hello Sir/Madam,
I think you have misunderstood the meaning of prime number. There is no relationship between the fact "2+2=4" and whether "14" is prime number. Prime number is defined as any number N which can ONLY be divisible by 1 and the number N itself. So as long as the number 14 can be divided by 2,7 apart from 1 and 14. We can conclude that number 14 is not a prime number.
Hope that this can help you to understand

Chasiufan is correct...2 + 2 = 4 is irrelevant and 14 is divisible by 2 and 7 and thus isn't a prime number.

a prime number is a integer that factor(can be divided by) +-its self and +-1. 14 is not an integer because it's factor includes (+/-) 1,2,7,14. 2+2=4 has nothing to do with 14 being not prime

2006-09-08 02:05:43 · answer #8 · answered by Yo_@n 1 · 0 0

2+2=4 is irrelevant.

A prime number is one that has no integer factors other than 1 and itself. 14 has factors of 2 and 7, which is why it is not prime.

2+2=4 is not a factor in your question. i don't see any relevance.
it is not a prime number because it has 4 factors, w/c are 1,14,2 &7.
prime numbers are numbers which only have two factors, 1 & the number itself.

Evey number that is y in x+x=y can be divided by 2. And because of that it can't be prime number.
Prime numbers are those which can be divided only with 1 and themselves - nothing else.
(p means prime)
p/1=p
p/p=1
