I want a half inch collet and about 2000W. Someone told me HP, Sun and Bay made some good ones but when I phone thier tech support they seem confused

Any ideas ?

Sorry, thanks for the advice, i did mean Watts, I would expect a router to run at about 25,000 RPM

I have the Consumer Reports for those tools,Albiet I have never heard of the brands you mentioned.The best rated was Hitachi,followed by Porter Cable,Fien,De Walt,Makita.I beleive Fien is made in Germany.When I sold tools for Lowes And Home Depot.I had several people tell me Fien was the VERY BEST.It is expensive and you can only get it through mail order.You can try Vermont tool Co.or Harbor Freight.

I'm not familiar with the brands you mentioned and I"m assuming you mean 2000 RPM not watts. I'm partial to Porter Cable mainly because I've had good luck with them over the years.Mine has the plunge router attachment with it so I can plunge straight down into the center of a board. The collet also adapts from a 1/2" to a 1/4" shank bit. You might want to check into this. Everything I mentioned came as a set in a polly case... Good Luck !

i have 3 routers,mine are all from sears. they come with a good warranty,also the sales person can help you with deciding what size you need or want.......i hope this was a help. happy routing
