I disagree, I think the carton with the least in will turn quicker. This is because there is simply a smaller volume, in which the bacteria and therefore, toxins, can thrive. In the half full carton, the toxins will be equally distributed through the liquid, and therefore it would take longer to have any effect.

The nearly empty one due to there being more space in the carton and this will let more air in, turning the milk off

You'll need to qualify what 'nearly empty' and 'half full' are. You could be talking about the same amount of milk in which case they would both go off at the same time.

at the same time, because the surface of the milk is the same size - you'll notice it quicker with the almost empty one though, since there's less milk to sour. ;)
