My grandpa always told me about this riddle, but I cannot remember the answer.. maybe some one can help me out. I know there is a solution.
There are two doors with gaurds in front of you. You know that one of the dorrs leads to piles of gold, while the other leads to a bottemless pitt.. but you don't know which one is which. You also know that one of the gaurd always lies and the other always tells the truth, but you dont know which one is which either. Now I think you only have one question, but I might be wrong, you may have 2. But what question could you ask either of the gaurds to figure out which door to go into?

Simple. Ask them "If I was to ask the other guard which door leads to the riches, what would he tell me?"
Do the opposite of whatever he says.
The truth teller will tell you the wrong door (what the liar would tell you).
The liar will also tell you the wrong door (what the truth teller would NOT have told you).
Now open the right door, and send me part of what you find for helping you! lol.

This is a typical question that I have heard many times. I think you are supposed to ask both of them one question but the question I guess because I forgot is "Which door are you guarding?" which will tell you which guard is lying. If there were two questions then just ask which way is the gold and trust the truth teller but I think there is another answer I forgot.

He asks them, "If I ask the other man which way to go, what would his answer be?" They would both answer in the same way. Whatever the answer is, go the other way. If the man you ask always tells the truth, then the other always lies. The man you ask will tell truthfully that the answer would be the wrong way. If the man you ask always lies, then the other man tells the truth. The man you ask will lie and tell you that the other man would tell you the wrong way. In both cases the answer you would receive would be the wrong way. Go the other way.

Ask either guard "Which door would the other guard tell me to take?" The liar will indicate the wrong door. The truthteller will indicate the wrong door (the one the liar would tell you to take). So, take the opposite door.

If one question is all there is, ask the guard to walk into the room first. even being the biggest liar on the planet does not make him wish to commit suicide Only the bloke who knows he will survive will enter.
