Marriage is something special. It means having someone there to pick you up when you are down. make you happy when you are sad, wipe your tears when you cry and beable to do the same back to them. Someone to share the good times as well as the bad times. Someone to lean on and to be leaned on. Never having to worry about being lonely.

I am not American. But I think marriage means to me: loving there partner through good and bad, ups and Downs. For me I would not love someone and not get married. I would not bring children into this world with out marriage.

First, being an American, I think most think extrememly lowly of marriage. Secondly, I think how you love someone is a bit different for each person. My wife and I got married because of the deep love we felt for each otehr, and knew we wanted to be togther for ever. We didn't do it for the piece of paper, we did it as a special day we both decided to really be together for ever, and also for it's traditional vibe. All the legal stuff that follows it just adds a bit more to our unity with each other. Also having joint bank accounts makes us feel more connected and trusted with each other.

But many other people live totally differently with their lovers than us. Some people aren't married, but totally committed to that one person "forever", and in a sense, live totally seperatly in almost everyway like having seperate bank accound, prenup agreements, possibly live in two different houses, etc. And thats fine, what ever works for people is whats important as long as it's logical, and not something superfical covered up by fake love.

marriage is a confirmation of what already exists between you and another person and that you are looking to raise children to be upright and moral people - continuing the story of yourself and your family, and culture.
