just as i respond to your question, i am reading the book "rich dad, poor dad". i suggest you should give your son the gist of the book.

though the book is all about how to be successful by getting / working to be rich....it also says, education is a must.

even if you are not going to get educated in school ....you still need education. Life teaches you. Why wait till it teaches you? Get the basic education and understand yourself in terms of what you can do what you are capable of doing talents etc.....

That could be an advice to your son. Please try it out.

Ask him to look around him and find out more about your neighbours, their educational level and the incomes they are earning. Ask him about his findings. Is there a co-relation between educational level and the jobs these people do?
Furhter, ask him what he intends to do when he's an adult. Then find out what educational level is required for his type of job.
Can he obtain his basic qualifications on his own effort?
Every opportunity you have, point out to him how poorly educated people are easily conned.

of course he doesnt think education is a good thing. he would rather be playing video games, sports, or hanging out with friends then going to school. ignore him obviously.

i think you should talk to him and let him see real life situations that indicate that education is important... but remember to be patient and not pushy... dont force him to understand in an instant, sometimes we go though these phases.... just continue to love him and support him... and let him see that you want whats best for him...
good luck and God bless..
