I bought a book that I really, really wanted at the used book store, but it has a little bit of smell... I think it's cifatette. Any ideas to get rid of it?

Put it in a bag with some bicarbonate of soda for a few days - it's good at getting rid of smells rather than covering them up,

I don't think it's possible to remove the odor, but... Try this: Put the books in an air-tight plastic container, like Rubber-maid, along with a sachet you like the fragrance of... leave the books in there for at least a week. They will come out smelling like the sachet. I did this with a few of my good books that smelled like smoke after sitting in a friend's car too long, and it worked.

fresh air, sunshine and just let it air out.

Word to the wise about NOT using bounce or any other fabric softner sheet. These sheets have oils in them and can end up leaching that oil into the book pages.

yes, it would make the smell go away but it also might leave "oil" spots on the pasges. If you do this, please, please put this dryer sheet between some papertowels, so the papertowel will absorb most of the oil and not the pages of your book

Maybe you could let it sit outside out of the sun, but just in a fresh breeze. When the weather gets colder, it might help even better. Just take the book and fan the pages outside.

Get the right size zip-lock for the book and put a few dryer sheets in with it. Seal for a few days.

Sunshine and fresh air. However, you do risk fading from the sun.

"Bounce" works well for any/all old books or albums......just leave a sheet inside.
