Light pollution.
Also affecting the wildlife normally active by night.

I remember the sky just outside Quito, when it was a smaller city.
The Milky Way above your head, you could walk in a moonless night just with the light from an incredible number of stars.
Never seen anything like that in my life. Never felt being so insignificant and proud at the same time for being able to admire and to be part of all that.
Excuse my poetic vein.
