Well, no. To start with, there is the chemical part (pheromones exchange and chemical reactions to it) that are very physical; there is also a great deal of instinctive affection (e.g., parent, usually mother, to offspring).

A lot of people can be persuaded in and out of love, though, so there is some basis to your question.

I think some people are pretty serious about it, though - in some cases, two souls really can be combined in one. Figuratively speaking...

'Illusary,' possibly, 'make-believe' ....no. Does that portion of your question have its foundations in cynicism?

'Love' is an emotion that is experienced on many levels and in many ways, some of them being confused with 'other' emotions. But, there in Love lies a degree of insanity, and in the normal course of events some of us find ourselves willing to sacrifice much for the sake of it and the inherent beauty we see in another human being.

Those feelings may cause us to feel pain (by varying degrees across the spectrum), and as a result, some of us may well become nicer and maybe better people as a result of the experience.

Unfortunately, some of us lean in the opposite direction and may well bend or break, in the end.

Best of luck.
Sash.

I don't think so, I have a deep spiritual, emotional and sexual connecting my my long term partner, I could not have a relationship without it.
The only sort of love there is is emotional love, sexual desire is not love, although it is necessary for a partnership to function properly.
Love and affection is shown between all sorts of people, siblings, parent to child, friends, even to animals.
I think it is deeply part of our make-up, part of what makes us human and sentient.
I know I could live the rest of my life without sexual contact (not happily, but I could do it) but I think I would just wither and die if nobody had any love or affection for me.

no, its real but I wouldn't go as far as some people would!!! 'I can't live without them' that isn't true, of course you can you just don't want to! Anyway, its nice to be loved and to love and to have affection everyone needs some amount of these things, if only to feel good about themselves and to reassure them that they are not alone, when things are bad.
