What is the internet for. Knowledge? Better prices? Friendship? Trade these off for Corruption. Greed. Loneliness/low self esteem.
Surely the internet is aimed at peoples weaknesses and as such is the greatest manipulators ever invented. Please advise. Thankyou.

I take it you will be giving up watching tv, reading newspapers, talking to friends, just simply going out the door. All these have influences on our lives but doing any of that isn't going to do anything for your social inclusion.

It is a valuable resource which allows people in many different countries and cultures to be able to express themselves where in some of these places they have no right to express themselves freely - that is is important.

What you get out of the internet is very much down to how you use it. If you spend your life there then life outside it will have less meaning and as such that isn't healthy and you should perhaps take yourself away from it however that isn't the experience of everyone.

Anything you abuse or get addicted to becomes bad. I personally love the internet for research, news, music and staying in touch with friends and family who are abroad. But I think too much time on the internet can be bad and can lead to corruption, greed and loneliness. It's your call.

The internet can be addictive, but like all things you should moderate how much time you spend on it as it could change your life as bad as a drinking problem.

Most companies now probably have access to the internet and its a valuable tool for a business. So chances are if you get a job you will be using the internet and will be hard to avoid.

the internet is not aimed at peoples weaknesses - a lot of sites are - there's a big difference - anyways, you could say the same for adds on TV, billboards, etc. - it's not the medium that's wrong, it's the way you use it.

Blaming the internet for all the bad things you find there is like blaming the gun for killing someone: "Your honour, members of the jury, my client is innocent, he did not kill the victim, it was the gun."

So no need to leave internet, just use it wisely. ;)

Internet sites are like shops and bars in the real world; if you don't like the merchandise, the style or the company, you leave and don't go back, but go elsewhere. Anyway, now you have found Yahoo Answers you would wonder what you were missing if you didn't keep looking!

Get used to it...it aint goin' nowhere, soon your brain will have a USB 5.0 plug so you can upload your thoughts as well as read others in real time.

If you want a reason why you should go on the internet again it would have to be...wait for it....

You should go to internet so that you can ask your dumb question here. For internet you can do what you just did. Dude, its how you used it. Just because you have a TV don't mean you have to use it. Some people watches TV for movies, other cartoons, some only to play games, xboxs, play stations, nintendo or game cube, and other watches documentary or educationally series or programs. It is how you use it, totally up to you.

There are two sides of every coin. One should learn from the negative side but look forward and live in positive one.

In real life also there are manipulators and exploiters but that doesn't mean one end their life.

Internet is basically information and thats what you should look at it as.

the Internet is merely a tool, how you use it is entirely up to you.... It can be a wealth of knowledge and experience or it can be a pit of filth and corruption. Don't blame the tool because it is misused.
