More US corporations use ThinkPads than any other make. This is because of 1) quality and 2) support.

ThinkPad is the best laptop.

Lenovo Thinkpads which used to be IBM Thinkpads. They are professional quality laptops and should last a long time. You can also custom order from Lenovo getting just about any OS you want installed and if they do not offer it most any OS build will run on thinkpads.

Your other option is a Mac Book which can run both OSX and Windows XP, you can use boot camp and or Parrells to run just about any OS and the laptop is all ready for Vista.

Sony brands.

Consumer Reports did a special issue on notebooks awhile ago. One of the categoris they look at was how often the notebooks needed to be repaired. Sony laptops performed the best; sony had best chance of not having any mechanical issues

If best is durability and quality, then the answer is surely Sony.

I'd say Toshiba is the best. I have some friends who have Toshiba for ages...w/ no problems at all. Toshiba telp. service is also good-short waiting time & friendly service.
