Washing soda, crumpled alfoil and hot water. Put a couple of spoons of washing soda in a bowl or sink, add lightly crumpled pieces of alfoil, add brass and copper items - if small obviously! and poor in boiling water. It will fizz up a bit, use a wooden spoon to turn items over or stir around a bit and remove. Rinse when done. Some tough stains may need a second go. Great for candle sticks, silverware, jewellery etc.
