By social standard - Obeying the law (rule) is right; and manipulating it is wrong.

By moral standard - Not doing something bad (kill, kidnap, rape) is right; doing elsewise is wrong.

By cultural standard - Bowing to the tradition is right, and againsting the tradition is wrong.

By rebels' standard - Following what your heart tells you is right, and listening to others is wrong.

By religious standard - Believing in one religion's supreme being is right, not believing and believing in other supreme being are wrong.

How many issues we will be facing in our life will determine how many time we need to distinguish wrong or right. But often, there is no answer, or things shouldn't be view as simple as just right and wrong. Life just doesn't go that way.

I will give an example:
Today you have muscle pain and need some potassium (banana), and you go ahead and get a super large size of double cheeze burger with fries and drinks that added 2000 Cals to you. The worst part is, it doesn't solve the problems. So you got what you want, but not what you need. Is that right? Or is it wrong?

There are several different way of distinguishing right from wrong. One way is the self-centered way: If I like it, it's right; if I don't like it, it's wrong. Another way is a religious and absolutist way: If the religion (or god) says it's right, it's right; wrong, it's wrong. These two ways are entirely opposite from each other. Another way is to say that if something benefits the greatest number of people, then it's right; otherwise, wrong. The first way causes anarchy and conflict because "my way or the highway" is just too arbitrary. The second one causes problems because of belief systems clashing and its absolutist nature. The third one may result in majority good and right, but often on minority bad or wrong.

So, another position is to base right and wrong on scientific investigation: what is natural is right, unnatural wrong. This way causes problems because of the lack of scientific education, religious counter-arguments, and other factors. This, however, is the way I prefer (since you asked).

According to me, good is right and evil is wrong. That's how I measure things but not always. When you want to know if this is right or wrong just imagine yourself after you do both things (imagine the results) and compare. The one with the better result is the right, the other is the wrong.

That is easy ask yourself can I get hurt, can someone Else get hurt, is it illegal or immoral, will it cause damage to an-others property. If you can answer yes or maybe to any of these it is probably wrong.

If it feels good, do it. You'll soon find out the difference between right and wrong.
