How do you know you're alive?

There are two conditions for a person to KNOW he is alive:
1. The body must be functioning (heart beating, breathing, etc.)
2. The person must be in a state of awareness, to be able to appreciate the fact that he is alive. A brain-dead person, for example, does not know he is alive.

It's like asking, how do you know you're dead? Or should we put it, alive in where? Physically? Mentally? Or spiritually? You can be alive in one way, both way or all the way. Physically alive when you hurt outside, when you interact with people, when you do your chores, when you've reached your physic limit. Mentally alive when you think, what you think of this, that, those, when you get challenged in the mind. Spiritually alive when you have faith in Him, that you are alive and death is nothing. One more thing is I am alive, so I know you are too. If you have all of them, you are unique and a lucky person. Some only have two, some only one, whilst possibly some with none. Hug life, you will feel alive. Cherrish the moments, you'll appreciate it, you know that you are alive. Thank Him for giving you life to live once and walk the Earth.

Live life to the fullest, love all things created, love back to those that love you, fear only Him and nothing else, you are what you are, dont look back, dont ask, dont be scared, its a gift, you only live once.

I know I am alive when something senses. Usually my mind via the eyes, but I feel especially alive when I hear or read an inspiring passage from Marcuse or Schiller or Heiddeger. Sometimes all it takes is breathing the lush smell of breakfast. Alive is always good when food is involved :)

If it seems everyone is holding you underwater and nothing seems to go right and then a stranger smiles at you and you feel better even for a minute your alive and in life. It generally sucks, but has it's good moments too.

Myself, sometimes I do wonder if my whole life is a dream then other times I know it is a dream. I think that when I feel my emotions, that is when I am alive.

You can't be you if you weren't alive. You won't be able to hear questions such as these when your dead. So, you are alive. Even if you die, you won't know that you're already dead.
