I'm 6' 0" and my wife is 5' 7". Our son is 7 and he's 50 inches tall. Is his height normal for someone who I'd expect will be at least as tall as me one day, or is he a little on the short side? On a related note, he's a pretty light eater . . . could this be a factor which is affecting his current height?

Take it with a grain of salt. Percentile charts were advanced utilising midsection classification white toddlers on extreme protein diets because the overall. He's only 7. The average height for a 7 year old boy is 49 inches. But why are you so worried about it. He hasn't even hit puberty yet. Wait until then, he hasn't even had any of his real growth spurts yet. When he's about 17, then you can start to get an idea about how tall he might be, but even then he won't be done growing.

Dont feel bad or worry, Im 5'4" my husband is 6'0". My son is 10 and he is on the short side as well. The docter said he is in the 22% for his height. Im hoping he will get a growth spurt. the docter also said based on our heights that he should be no more of a minimum of 5'8". Im not sure how reliable that was since my father is 6'3" and I am short. It may be a boy thing they seem to mature later than girls. I feel your concern I am hoping my son has height to.

I left school at 5' and grew 11" in the next year. The growing pains were annoying, especially while running. I felt like a dwarf. Amusingly the first time I noticed I was growing was when I met a school friend & noticed I was taller than them, when they had been taller than me. I felt like king of the world for a few weeks :)

Some people just grow at different rates. Give him plenty of good food & exercise he'll be ok.

Your son is 7 and already 4 feet tall. What is your problem?

What if he doesn't reach your 6'0" stature? Are you going to disown him? My husband was 6'0" and I am 5'7". Neither one of our childlren (37 and 43) are as tall as I am. Of course they are girls, so I don't expect a male chauvenist such as you would expect them to be any taller!

Get off your high horse!

you should bring him to a pediatrician. if he's a light eater, a vitamin supplment may be given to him. vitamin supplement will make him eat more and sleep more. he should eat foods rich in protein. if he didn't grow any taller or if he seemd to be shorter than other boys of his age when he reached 12, you should bring him to an endocrinologist. he may need an injectble growth hormone.
