My brain has shut down, but I'm thinking of a word that is similar in meaning to talking down to or telling someone what they want to hear. I'm not thinking of placating but I think it might start with an "f" or a "c". Any thoughts?

i know that the word "condescend" refers to talking down to someone who is less knowledgeable about a subject than you. is there a word whereby someone condescends to you but you are in fact more knowledgeable about the subject than they are?

i think the best way to deal with this problem is to speak some other language and you will find the best suited word for it .

if that also doesn't work go with that long word itself .

i think the one word would be " condescending ".

It does not start with an F or C, but I am thinking of the word PATRONIZE.
