OK, first of all, it isn't "Hail Bob", although if you want to honor me this way that's fine with me.

The comet is named "Hale Bop" and unless it hit something, it is still around, but we probably won't be around when it returns.

Some remnants may be but I understood it has orbited too close to the sun and dispersed.

I think you are talking about 'hailey's comet' and as far as I know its only visible to the naked eye every 100 years ..give or take a year...
