I dont want to partition the Hard disk after formatting or removing the OS. Also please advice me as how to partition a hard disk.

Acronis Partition Expert, now part of Acronis Disk Director Suite 10.0.

Will allow you to resize your existing partition, then create another that you can load a different o/s inside.

There's also partition magic, I haven't used it in years tho. There is an open source partition utility, I forget the name. Google may help if your budget is tight. It's based on linux, but will work with and preserve your current windows setup.

Please make a full backup first.

Most recent Linux distros, and live CDs, have tools to resize existing Windows partition. This would cost you nothing.

Check out Ubuntu, as it seems to be a popular one. You can use the partitioning bits without installing if you don't want the Linux.

I think they all advise you to check the existing partition, and defragment before trying to resize.

i agree with dr. leone. there is some words to add, disk director is cheaper then partition magic, so i think it's worth to buy it.
